Current version: November 1, 2026.
What follows lists how India 4U treats personal information in plain words.
What we keep
What you choose to post about travel and life in India stay on file and may be shown to other visitors; ask and we will take yours down.
For vote counting, what we store is a one-way fingerprint of the connection, with no way to recover the original.
If you suggest a place or send a correction, we store your note and the optional name and email you add.
To see which state guides help, we keep anonymous totals of which state guides get opened, with no names behind them.
Like nearly every website, the web server behind india-4u.com records an IP address and the page fetched, to keep india-4u.com running.
If you make an account to sync your India passport, we keep your email address (or the name and email on your Google account, if you sign in with Google) and the places, wishlist and food lists you saved. You can delete the account from your account page, and everything tied to it goes with it.
Kept on your device
A few pages save what you entered in your own browser; none of that reaches us.
Cookies, ads and links
You can browse india-4u.com without signing in. If you choose to sign in, we set one cookie that keeps you logged in, and no other cookies of ours.
Should we add ads or a visitor counter, the companies behind them can place cookies; browser settings can switch them off.
Your rights
For deletion or correction, email namaste@india-4u.com; we answer every one.
If you suggest a place, food or college, we store your suggestion. Your first name and email are optional. We use your email only to tell you when we add what you suggested, and we delete it once your suggestion is dealt with. We show your first name next to the place only if you tick the box that says so. If you tick the newsletter box, we keep your email to send you the India 4U newsletter, and every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
Selling and sharing
We will never sell personal information, full stop. Apart from the services we pay to run india-4u.com, your data stays with us unless a court or law demands it.
If you save and share your India passport, we store your list of places and the first name you choose to show, so your link works. You can delete the link at any time from the shared page.
A few more points
We do not aim India 4U at anyone under 13, and we delete anything we learn came from a child under 13.
In case of changes, you will see the new text here and we change the date.
